Senior Account Executive

If so, join our client’s team in Southern California as a Senior Account Executive. Starting day one, you will play a crucial role in shaping impactful public affairs media and advocacy strategies for our California-based clients. They are seeking a dynamic public affairs communicator with superior writing skills who's accustomed to exceeding media relations and advocacy relations program expectations.
Responsibilities:
Media Relations: As designated, serve as a primary media contact for client public affairs activities, cultivating relationships with relevant local and national media outlets and identifying strategically sound opportunities for client exposure. Offer strong knowledge and experience in digital and social media engagement.
Content Creation: Originate and/or oversee the development of press materials, website copy, email pitches, social media posts, scripts, posting calendars and a variety of other content.
Quality Control: Ensure the production of high-quality work for clients, whether for copy, design, clarity and accuracy.
Research and Planning: Conduct issues research to inform, prepare and update communications strategies for assigned clients, anticipating challenges and contributing to creative, innovative solutions.
Relationship Building: As appropriate, establish and maintain productive relationships with the department offices of California state and regional elected officials, opinion leaders, relevant third-party organizations (NGOs) and media contacts.
Account Management: Serve as a primary agency contact for assigned accounts, overseeing relationships with clients through regular meetings and communication; anticipating their needs, maintaining program and project continuity and results; and proactively addressing any issues that may arise.
Client Approval: Secure client approval on all work done on their behalf, maintaining transparency and accountability in all client interactions.
Budgeting: Develop well-grounded program and project budgets with approval from senior management, while ensuring adherence to approved budgets throughout program and project execution.
Accountability: Keep supervisors informed of all client activities, providing regular updates and seeking guidance when necessary.
Business Growth: Support new business and organic growth by participating in professional and community activities to promote the firm's leadership position.
Professional Development: Participate in career training and development opportunities, sharing best practices and contributing to the growth and development of fellow team members.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Political Science/Government & Politics, Journalism or a related field. Advanced relevant degree candidates or holders a plus.
4–6 years of PR agency, public affairs firm or corporate work experience.
Strong acumen in state/municipal government affairs, public policy, strategic planning, media relations, and brand marketing.
Sound strategic communications skills, instincts and program planning/organization fundamentals. Superior writing and editing skills.
Track record of successful client management and business growth.
Ability to contribute to and inspire a project or campaign team.
Multi-lingual, Spanish-speaking fluency a plus.
Proficiency with PowerPoint/Excel/Outlook essential. Desktop publishing and/or basic design skills a plus.
Full-time presence in either office in Riverside or San Diego, California. Depending upon the successful candidate's circumstances, a generous relocation package from elsewhere in the US will be offered.
